Behind every confident beauty professional is someone who took the time to teach, encourage, challenge, and believe in them.

At Imani Institute of Cosmetology, our instructors bring their own industry experience, knowledge, and passion into the classroom. They are more than instructors—they are mentors committed to helping our students build confidence, strengthen their skills, discover their talents, and prepare for the careers ahead of them.

We’re not just teaching beauty. We’re helping build the next generation of beauty professionals.

Kristy brings years of experience in the beauty industry to Imani Institute of Cosmetology. After spending years behind the chair and owning her own salon, she took some time away from the industry to reset and decide what she wanted her next chapter to look like.

When Kristy toured Imani, she fell in love with the opportunities and experiences available to our students and knew she wanted to be part of it.

Today, she is excited to bring her knowledge and real-world experience into the classroom, where she can teach, mentor, and help the next generation of hairstylists build their confidence, develop their skills, and find their own passion for the beauty industry.

How long are the programs?

Program Lengths at Imani Institute of Cosmetology:

  • Hair: 1,150 hours (typically 9–12 months)
  • Barbering: 786 hours (about 6–8 months)
  • Esthetics: 484 hours (includes makeup artistry; approximately 5–6 months)
  • Advanced Esthetics: 500 hours (about 6 months)
  • Nails: 281 hours (about 3–4 months)
  • Tattoo Artistry: 260 hours (about 3–4 months)
  • Permanent Makeup: 50 hours (short course)
  • Full Cosmetology: 1,835 hours (about 15–18 months)
  • Massage Therapy: 650 hours (about 7–8 months)

Program durations may vary based on full-time or part-time schedules.

Do you offer financial aid?

We do not currently offer federal financial aid (FAFSA) at Imani Institute of Cosmetology.
However, we provide flexible monthly payment plans with 0% interest while enrolled. We also accept VA benefits, tribal benefits, vocational rehabilitation, Job Source, Youth Plus, and some scholarships. Many of our students use these options to make their education affordable.

Why aren’t you a federally accredited school?

 

Imani Institute of Cosmetology is licensed by the State of Oregon and the Higher Education Coordinating Commission, but we have chosen not to pursue federal accreditation. This decision allows us to keep tuition more affordable, update our curriculum rapidly to reflect industry changes, and maintain a strong focus on hands-on, real-world training. While we do not offer federal financial aid (FAFSA), we provide flexible payment plans and accept a variety of benefits to help students manage tuition.

Our programs fully meet Oregon’s requirements for licensure and career readiness. If you have questions about transferability or financial options, we’re happy to discuss them with you!

Can I tour the school before enrolling?

Do you help with job placement after graduation?


While we do not offer formal job placement services, we provide strong career preparation through business classes, resume building, interview coaching, and networking opportunities with local salons, spas, and clinics. We regularly receive calls and emails from employers asking about our graduates—largely because our programs go far beyond the basics, giving students advanced skills, certifications, and real-world experience that set them apart. Our instructors and staff are committed to supporting you as you launch your career, and many of our graduates find positions quickly thanks to our reputation and industry connection
